Sutton and East Surrey Water – Consultation
Draft Water Resources Management Plan Consultation
As you may be aware, every five years SES update and develop its plans to provide reliable, high quality water supplies to its customers. As the water supplier for your area, SES wish to hear your views on its draft Water Resources Management Plan (WRMP) which is now out for consultation.
You can find a copy of SES’s plan here along with an online questionnaire that SES hope you can spare the time to complete by 25 May, so that it can consider your views.
Preparing for the future
SES’s latest plan looks 60 years ahead and addresses important issues such as projected population growth in the area, the impacts of climate change and how SES continue to protect and enhance our local environment.
We receive less rainfall than many other parts of the country and SES’s supply area is classified as being in serious water stress. To address this, and make its service more resilient for the future, their plan focusses heavily on reducing demand for water over the coming years.
SES’s customers use more water than in any other part of the country, around 150 litres per person per day. Some of the neighbouring companies have seen this fall to around 130 litres by installing more water meters and helping customers by providing wide-ranging water efficiency advice and retrofits. SES believes that it can do the same – potentially going further by using smart meters. At the same time, SES plan to reduce leakage levels further, so less water is wasted and is available to supply its customers.
SES would like you to have the chance to comment and share your views before it finalises its plan, and look forward to receiving your feedback.
