“Future Mole Valley” – MVDC consults on new Local Plan

Mole Valley District Council (MVDC) has launched a consultation, as a first step in its preparation of “Future Mole Valley”, MVDC’s next Local Plan.

Future Mole Valley will set out plans for land use in Mole Valley for the next 15 years; it will include targets for delivering new development as well as setting out those areas which will continue to be protected with respect to development.

As this is about the future of Mole Valley for everybody who lives here, it is vital MVDC understands what you think.  MVDC needs to:

  • help households who are struggling to find suitable, affordable accommodation;
  • create better conditions for local businesses; and
  • adapt to the changing demands on, amongst other things, retail and leisure services.

Doing nothing is not a viable option.  As MVDC is clear that development will have to take place to meet these local needs, MVDC wants to use your input to positively shape how and where that development goes.

This consultation focuses on two main themes:

  • making the best use of brownfield land; and
  • the potential release of greenfield land.

At this stage, the consultation is not about specific sites for development; rather it is seeking your views on options MVDC has identified as possible approaches it could adopt to accommodate new development.

During this consultation MVDC will be hosting a series of events throughout Mole Valley to meet people face-to-face, answer questions and receive views in person including:
Brockham Village Hall, between 4pm and 8pm, on Friday 21st July 2017
and
Dorking Halls between 4pm and 8pm, on Thursday 10th August 2017

Visit the MVDC Consultation Website where you will be able to:
(i) find a questionnaire setting out the options with space for you to give any ideas you may have;
(ii) view more information on a video;
(iii) check the dates and locations of all the drop in sessions.

Duncan Irvine, MVDC Executive Member for Planning, says “This is an opportunity for everyone in our District to help shape the direction of development to meet the housing and economic needs of Mole Valley, whilst protecting the countryside that we all love so much.  We need your views because we need to get this right, so please do take part.”

The consultation will close on 12th August 2017.
